About

Family owned in Midland since 2004

Smith Industries builds the equipment Permian Basin facilities run on — and delivers and sets it with our own crews.

Our story

A fabricator built around field reality

Smith Industries started in 2004 as a family-owned fabrication business serving operators in and around Midland, Texas. The work has always come from the same place: shops that understand what happens to equipment after it leaves the yard build better equipment.

Over time the operation grew from tanks and vessels into piping modules, electrical fabrication, coating, steel power poles and a trucking and crane division. The reason for each addition was the same — every step handed to an outside vendor was a step we could not hold a date on.

Today the company covers the full path from plate to installed equipment for customers across the Permian Basin.

How we work

What the crew holds itself to

Do it once, correctly

Rework in the field costs far more than care in the shop. We build so it fits the first time.

Own the schedule

Committing to a date only means something if we control the steps behind it.

Stay accountable

Family owned means the people who answer for the work are on site, not in another state.

Build for the conditions

Equipment leaving our yard has to survive West Texas service, not a spec sheet.
